Routine dental care shouldn’t mean one office for cleanings, another for a cracked tooth and a third for your wisdom teeth. At Legacy Dental in Burleson, TX, your checkups, cleanings and fillings happen in the same office as cosmetic work, children’s sleep and airway treatment, and oral surgery. Dr. Heather Magers and Dr. Megan Stivers are accepting new patients, kids and adults, at 101 NW Renfro St.
Before You Book
- Accepting new patients: Kids and adults. You can fill out your new patient forms online before you come in.
- First visit: About an hour for your exam. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours if your cleaning happens the same day.
- Insurance: We work with PPO dental plans and file your claims for you. We don’t accept Medicaid.
- No insurance: The Quality Dental Plan is $462 a year, or $359 for each added family member. It covers exams, X-rays, fluoride and two cleanings, and takes 20% off other treatment.
- Emergencies: We do our best to see you the same day.
Your First Visit in 3 Steps
- Book your visit. Call (817) 447-6040 or request an appointment online, then fill out your new patient forms on our website. Bring your license, plus your insurance card if you have one.
- Meet your dentist. Dr. Magers or Dr. Stivers starts with an exam, a full set of X-rays and a conversation about what’s been going on with your teeth. This takes about an hour, longer if you have questions.
- Get your cleaning or your plan. If your gums are healthy, a hygienist cleans your teeth the same day. If you need more care, your dentist walks you through the treatment plan before anything is scheduled.
What General Dentistry Includes at Legacy Dental

When a checkup turns up something more, you don’t start over with a new office. Legacy Dental also provides wisdom teeth removal and oral surgery in our office, with IV sedation available for oral surgery cases. We also offer dental implants, dentures, bridges, cosmetic care like porcelain veneers, teeth whitening and clear aligners, and children’s airway and sleep apnea treatment.
What does a general dentist do?
A general dentist is your main dentist. They keep your teeth and gums healthy, catch problems early and treat them when they come up. Catching problems early matters: a cavity found at a checkup is usually a simple filling, while one left alone can grow into a root canal or an extraction.
How often should I get a checkup?
Every six months for most patients, or every three months if you’re managing gum disease. Most insurance plans cover two cleanings per benefit year spaced six months apart. Send us the date of your last cleaning and we’ll confirm your plan’s timing before you come in.
Do you treat tooth pain the same day?
Usually, yes. Legacy Dental does its best to offer same-day appointments for dental emergencies, so call (817) 447-6040 as soon as the pain starts. If you don’t have insurance, your first emergency exam and X-ray are a flat-rate fee. What to do in a dental emergency.
Do you fill cavities with tooth-colored material?
Yes. Legacy Dental fills cavities with composite resin matched to the shade of your tooth, so the filling blends in. Composite is mercury-free, bonds directly to the tooth and is hardened in layers with a curing light. More on tooth-colored fillings.
Do you offer sedation?
Yes. Legacy Dental offers nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation for patients who feel anxious about dental work, plus IV sedation for oral surgery cases. If you choose oral conscious or IV sedation, plan for a family member or friend to drive you to and from your visit.
Paying for Your Care
With insurance. Legacy Dental works with PPO dental plans, and our team files and tracks your claims. When your plan provides an estimate, we share it with you before treatment.
Without insurance. The Quality Dental Plan is our in-house savings plan. It’s $462 a year for the first member and $359 for each additional family member, so a family of four pays about $1,539 a year. It covers your exams, X-rays, fluoride and two cleanings at 100%, and takes 20% off other treatment.
Financing. CareCredit, Cherry and Sunbit let you spread treatment costs into monthly payments. We also accept cash, checks, debit cards and most major credit cards.

Dr. Heather Magers, DDS leads Legacy Dental. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in San Antonio in 2007. She offers Invisalign and has a special interest in HealthyStart sleep disorder solutions.
Dr. Megan Stivers grew up in Mansfield, TX. She attended Texas A&M University and the Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas.

I haven’t been to the dentist in years. Will I be judged?
No. Your first visit is built around no rush and no judgment. Your dentist starts with an exam and a conversation about what’s been going on, and we stay as long as you need to answer your questions. If anxiety kept you away, ask about nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation.
Can my whole family come to Legacy Dental?
Yes. Legacy Dental sees kids and adults, and patients under 18 need a parent or guardian with them at the first visit. Families without insurance can add each family member to the Quality Dental Plan for $359 a year.
Do you accept Medicaid?
No. Legacy Dental isn’t a Medicaid office. If you don’t have dental insurance, the Quality Dental Plan and CareCredit, Cherry or Sunbit financing are your options here.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Your license, your insurance card if you have one, and your completed new patient forms. Park behind the building, off Magnolia Street.
